R3V, Sound & Light composer and Live Electronics performer

R3V (aka R3Valt, b. 1962) is an Italian Sound & Light composer and Live Electronics performer.

His sonic exploration began in the early 1980s through primitive analog synthesizers, hardware signal processors, and electric guitars, focusing from the outset on unconventional control interfaces to bypass traditional keyboard constraints.

Heavily informed by European post-punk avant-garde and electronic minimalism—bridging the chamber-electronic textures of Tuxedomoon with the heavy, industrial-cinematic momentum of modern Gary Numan — R3V executes a strictly autonomous, real-time approach. His works function as open architectures: rigid, hypnotic drum machine rhythms layered with dark, evolving modular textures and processed strings.

The current setup incorporates electric and MIDI violins processed through complex signal chains, utilized as dynamic modulators rather than traditional lead instruments.
